ST. ANDREW’S GUILD.
SOCIAL AFTERNOON. Vivid Iceland poppies in glass vases decorated the tea tables in St. Andrew’s Hall for the monthly meeting of the St. Andrew’s Ladies’ Guild .yesterday afternoon. On the stage were artistically arranged baskets of pale pink camellias and loliage and a smaller basket of mixed Dowers stood on the president’s table. Mrs M. Ailohison presided and tlie members and visitors were welcomed at the door by Mesdames K. McDonald, J. A. Mitchell and D. J. Lovelock. A vote of sympathy with Mr Greer and family in the death ot Airs Greer was passed on the motion ol Mrs Aitchison, who paid a tribute to Airs Greer’s memory. New members welcomed were Alosdames J. Richards and If. Croud. Mrs 1. ,Stringer was also welcomed. An apology lor absence was received In,in Mrs J. Hubbard. Members were ;informed that Airs Janies Marshall, who is an inmate of (.lie Hospital, is on the road to recovery. A competition---jumbled names ol New Zealand towns —was conducted by Mrs J. Murray and won by Airs \V. Bigliam. )<y a. novel method members wore selected to have lea at ttie president s table. Rev. J. Hubbard was also a guest. 11 lose responsible for Lite afternoon tea were Alesdames If. A. Cooper, VV. Du Del I, R. Clarke, R. C. Donald, G. Cooper, J. Campion, J. G. Collins, J. Cody, T. Wlringer and Aliss M- Culdow. Mrs W. Bigliam rendered two songs which won much applause. Accar (icon bolay were contributed by Aliy .J. G. Bungay, and Aliss Marjorie Millar sang two songs, her accompaniments being played by Miss L. liuick. Miyy Millin' also recited. Mrs, Aitchison drew tlie momliers attention to the new curtains hung at the windows b.y the executive to improve the appearance of the hull and 1,1,.; acoustics. She announced that the Drama. Circle were putting on a play to help meet the cost. A couch had been placed in the church vestry by the guild. It was announced that the annual meeting would take place next month and it was hoped there would ho a large attendance. Mrs Lovelock moved a hearty vote of thanks to the entertainers and Mrs Ailohison one to tlie hostesses and tea helpers. These were heartily accorded.
