MoCORMICK’S BAD LUCK IN FIRST TEST.—A new Test record for opening batsmen in a contest in England was made by C. J. Barnett and L. Hutton a fortnight ago last Friday. The Australian fast bowler E. L. McCormick, however, was unlucky in not getting them both in his first two overs. Barnett had a “life” in the first over, and this picture shows how Hutton escaped in the next. He chopped a ball on to the wicket, but the bails were not dislodged.
