jOn Saturday evening the Ashhurst branch of the National Party held a vvoll-atlended social ' at the home of. Mr and Airs S. Wiggins, of lliwinui, visitors being present from Awahou South, Feilding, and Palmerston North. The Monto Carlo waltz was won by Miss I. Woodroofo and Mr G. Williamson, and naildriving by Mr Woodroofe. Competitions were won by Miss M. Woodroofe and Mr J. Searlo and Mr G. - Wiggins.. Miss Lorraine Fairless entertained with a dance'; Mr Donald BJacFarlane. of Oringi, contributed two items. Mr 1. Searlo. provided the music for the daiicing. .Mrs B. Williamson won . the ladies’ eard prize and Mr Anion the men’s: Ihe president, Mr W. Romley,.. expressed appreciation to Mr and Mrs Wiggins for their hospitality. if* The Methodist Church Bible class young ladies held their weekly meeting, when three delegates from Palmerston , North paid a visit. • ; The monthly mooting of the Court Pohangina, No. 7313, A:O.F., was held in the hall, Bro. L. Evans presiding over a small attendance. One member was reported on the sick funds. Bro. W. It. Smith, P.C.R., the dolegate to the annual conference, gave a detailed report. ■I I n spite of the inclement weather there was a fair attendance at the annual meeting of : the Ashhurst branch of tho Mothers’ Union. There were apologies for absence from Mesdames Romley, Woodroofe and Finlay. Mrs Farnell was elected enrolling member and Mrs Davis re-elected ■ secretary. The speaker was Rev. 0. A. Foston, who chose ‘The Rainbow of Love.” The friends of Mrs K. N.. ot Ashhurst, will regret to learn that she is an ininalo of a private hospital in Palmerston North. .
