FRENCH PRECAUTIONS.

INDO-CHINA’S DEFENCES. Received June 28, 10.50 a.m. LONDON, June 27. The Daily Herald’s Singapore correspondent says that as the Japanese advance through South China towards French Indo-China the latter’s defences are being rapidly strengthened, 20,000 recruits augmenting the existing garrison of 10,000, including a battalion from the Foreign Legion. Emplacements for 15in guns have been constructed at Cape Saint James and a submarine refuelling station has been established at Camran’s Bay.
