FAREWELL FUNCTION.
At th© home of Mr and Mrs R. G. Cunningham, Mangarawa, a gathering was held to farewell Mr and Mrs J. Kinnane, who have resided in the district for 30 years and who are to live iii Palmerston North. There was an attendance of about 50 friends and neighbours. Miss Jean Goldsworthy presented to ‘ Mrs -Kinnane a pretty posy, which had been made by Mrs Cunningham. Mr A. Curry, senr., spoke very highly of the guests and wished them good fortune in their new home. He called upon Mrs T. Mills to make a presentation to them, in the form of a rug and a walking stick. Mr J. Kiinnane, junr,. replied on behalf of his parents. An enjoyable time was passed at cards and games and a number of items were given. Mrs Cunningham sang, accompanied by Mrs O’Hagan; Miss Mary Coulan gave a display of Highland dancing; a community sing and a playette were staged by Miss M. and Mr H. Goldsworthy, and pianoforte solos were rendered by Mesdames J. Baldick, A. F. Curry, O’Hagan and Miss M. Goldsworthy. Mr R. G. Cunningham gave an interesting talk on his Anzac trip to Australia, ad Mr K. Robb also gave his experiences. The card winners were Mrs C. Sage, with Mrs AV. Cunningham second, and Mr D. Davies and Mr C. Sage.
