REGISTRATION OF PROPERTY

AMERICA EXEMPTED.

Received. June 27, 8.5 a.m. WASHINGTON, June 25. The State Department has confirmed the receipt of a Note from Germany, presumably answering, the United States • protest against the utilisation of Jewish property by the Reich. The Secretary of State (Mr Cordell Hull) said to-day that the German Note exempts Jews permanently domociled in America from the rules requiring the registration of all property held in Germany with the exception of ex-German nationals emigrating for political reasons since 1933. The text lias been withheld. Coincidentally, Mr Sayre, in an address prepared before the receipt of the Note, publicly castigated Germany’s economic policy as one leading towards the degradation of the German people. Mr Sayre’s unprecedented action is expected to increase the strain on the relations which the German Note intended to case.
