PARLIAMENT

PREPARATIONS FOR DPENING. (By Telegraph—Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON, June 27. New Zealand’s 25tli Parliament will commence its final session to-morrow with picturesque ceremonial, the Gover-nor-General (Viscount Galway) attending to read the Speech from the Throne in the Legislative Council. While His Excellency is proceeding from Government House a salute of 19 guns will be heard, and there is to be the usual military parade fronting Parliament Building. Fifty Royal Air Force men. will he included in the guard of honour, providing a reminder of the most modern development in defence. ' So far few -members of either House have reached Wellington. Hon. A. Hamilton (Leader of the Opposition) is not due till Tuesday. With the short legislative programme already indicated officially, it is evident that the session will be prominent for its debates. There is the necessity for passing a money supply Bill before the end of the month, and the Government is taking no risks through a prolonged debate; it will make , this‘measure urgent to ensure its passage during the sitting commencing on Wednesday. Only formal business is being taken on the opening day, and a nappy exception from the usual procedure is that there is no necessity for condolence motions relating to deceased legislators. The Government will utilise most of the day for a party caucus.
