The lawn tennis championships were continued at Wimbledon to-day. 111. the third round of the women’s singles the eclipse of Airs Wills-Moody seemed imminent as 4000 spectators watched Airs Heine Aliller (South Africa) sensationally pile up a s—l lead, but suddenly she seemed to . become magnetised bv the American’s backhand, anti asked Airs Wills-Aloody to call the tune. Airs Wills-Aloodv took five games on end, after which the issue was never in doubt. AUCKLAND, June 27. On their way to the United States to play for Australia in the Davis Cup contest, Messrs H. Hopman, J. Bromwich, Adrian Quist and Len Schwartz are through passengers from Sydney.. “We consider our chances fair,” was the summing up by the captain-man-ager (Mr Hopman), who said their first meeting in the American Zone would lie against Mexico at Kansas City. Should they succeed they would then meet the winners of • the match between Japan and Canada, and, if successful, they would be in the running for games with the winners of the European Zone section and so meet America. ■

They will also play in the American doubles championships at Boston and in the singles at Forest Kills, New , York. They will play in tourneys in California and arc due to arrive back in Sydney on November 1. Tho Australians' range in age from 19 to 31, and all are in good form.
