'(To the Editor.) Sir,- —Again I feel compelled to draw the attention of young and inexperienced people rushing into the forest without a guide. Many accidents have happened to members of search parties, who have, generously devoted time and cash in search of “would-be bushmen.” The writer has been temporarily bushed many times during the last thirty years, but thanks to dry matches carried in a small bottle and a compass, on my watch chain, I have not given any trouble to others. My advice to people who are bushed in heavy weather is to camp and raise a smoke signal (on a ridge) with dry rata hark and green leaves when the fog lifts.——I i am. e “ c -> EX-DEER STALKER.
