PALESTINE UNREST.
SENTENCE ON JEW. Received June 25, 12.20 p.m. JERUSALEM, June 24. Unsuccessfully appealing against the death sentence passed on Solomon Ben Joseph for firing on a bus and carrying arms, counsel said that, if carried out, it would be the first time a Jew had been executed in Palestine since the destruction of the Temple in the year 70 A.D. Appeals for clemency have l>een received from Jewish communities throughout the world. The widespread terrorism continues. Three people have been killed and ten wounded in 24 hours. Three Jewish youths were kidnapped while returning from work; it is feared they 1 are dead.
Solomon’s Temple (described in 1 Kings 6 and 7 was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar in 586 8.C.; it was rebuilt by Zerubbabel, encouraged by Haggai and Zecliariali. 520-516 B.C. Herod the Great, who had in 37 B.C. destroyed the temple, began in 20 B.C. to rebuild it on a magnificent scale. It was destroyed by the Romans in 70 A.D.
Tho Jewish Temple was at Jerusalem, on the last ridge, sometimes called jVlonah. ,
