RONGOTEA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) RONGOTEA, May 25. On Monday evening Mr F. C, Roberts, of Hamilton, addressed about 85 farmers in the Coronation Hall, the object of the meeting being to explain the views of the compensating price committee. Mr Roy Craig was in the chair. There is a considerable difference of opinion among local farmers, and many are awaiting more detailed information on the subject, before committing themselves to the support of the proposals. Methodists from Saps on and Taikorea Churches joined forces "with those of Rongotea on Tuesday evening, in the local church, to further celebrate the John Wesley bicentenary, the result being a very happy function, marked by vigorous singing of old-time hymns and a splendid spirit of fellowship. Rev. R. C. Fordyce presided, and had the assistance of Rev. Mr Nelson. Brief papers were read, and addresses given on various phases of Methodist activity. Mrs J. Sanson, the oldest member of the church, unveiled a steel engraving portrait of John Wesley, the little ceremony being accompanied by a few gracious w r ords, from one who had been associated with the circuit from earliest childhood. Miss M. Foster rendered a solo. Mr Fordyce expressed thanks to Mrs Foster and Miss Foster for the gift of a gold-embroidered velvet cloth, for use on the pulpit desk. The Te Deum w-as sung, and a memorable evening closed with the pronouncing of the Benediction. Mr E. I-I. Lange, agricultural instructor for the Wanganui Education Board, visited the school on Tuesday.
