TIAKITAHUNA
(From Our Own Correspondent.) TIAKITAHUNA, April 20. Mrs Passey, of Palmerston North, • was the guest at a birthday party tendered to her by her children and grandchildren at the residence of Mr and Mrs D. Rowland. A sumptuous tea was enjoyed by all and' the time passed quickly with games, community singing, and the exchanging of reminiscences by the older folk. Among those present were Mr and Mrs J. Passey. (Wellington), Mrs F. Garner (Dannevirke), Mr and Mrs G. H. Paesev (Pohangina), Mr and Mrs T. " Rowland, Mr and Mrs Jack Passey.. Mr and Mrs H. Blows, and many grandchildren. A swan plant at a well-known local residence has for the pest month been the homo of at least twelve monarch butterfly caterpillars. These in due course developed into the cocoon and eventually, with one or two exceptions, into the much discussed butterfly. Visitors to the district over Easter were Miss M. Worboys, staying with Mr and Mrs M. Richardson; Mr and Mrs Murray Rogers with Misses Matheson; Mr and Mrs Bindon and family with Mrs N. P. Nielson; Mrs J. Passey, of Lower Hutt, with Mr and Mm D. Rowland; Mr K. Guthrie with Mr S. Rowland. The friends of Miss Leila Weddell will be pleased to learn that she has returned home from hospital. Mr and Mrs H. N. McEwcn are touring the South Island. Mr Ivan Parkinson, accompanied by a party from the district, visited the bush country at the back of Wanganui on a hunting expedition at Easter. Large boar tusks displayed on their return spoke of the success of the trip.
