SHORTAGE OF CATTLE.

During the past few years the trade in bobby calves has reached an unprecedented height and, as a result, a shortage of cattle is being experienced by dairy farmers in the Manawatu. Even more so is this shortage being felt in the Waikato, where it has been found necessary to relieve the position by calling on the surrounding provinces for cattle, notably weaners. At recent local sales, animats which would ordinarily have brought only £7 or £8 have been sold for £lO and more.
