(From Our Own Correspondent.) TIRITKA, April 21
Tlicro was a very good attendance at the April meeting of the Tiritca Institute, which was held at .Mrs l l '. N. Andrews’s residence. Mrs A. Brill presided and extended a welcome to members and visitors and expressed the hope that it would bo a happy and prosperous year. Two new members wore welcomed- —Mrs Ilill and Miss Boyce. The molto for the day was “if your face wants to smile let it ; if it don’t, make it.” Miss 1). Smith read the minutes of the annual meeting which wore adopted. The “Sunshine” visitors foy the month are Mesdamcs Kyle and Hastings. Miss Stilburr was elected delegate to attend the council meeting in place of Miss ]). Smith, who will be unable to attend. Miss U. Ounninghamc was elected treasurer. Miss C'unningharnc kindly donated a gift for competition. The points prize for the year 1936-37 were presented to Mrs Pinfold and Frs G. Edyrvean. Mrs Brill, on behalf of the members, presented Mrs Andrews with a gift as a token of love and appreciation of all she has done for the Women’s Institute and chiefly for allowing all meetings to be hcld_ in her home. Mrs Andrews suitably replied. Mrs Moreoni, of Rongotca, gave a demonstration on smocking, which was followed with much interest. The competition for date scones judged by Mrs Morcom and Miss Boyce, resulted: Mrs IV. Knowles 1, Mrs R Ilaselden 2. An elocutionary item by Mrs Hastings was enjoyed. The hostesses. Mr o Andrews and Miss Stilburn, served a dainty afternoon tea. The competition for May is for the best knitted garment and the hostesses are Mrs Crowe and Miss Cunninghame.
