MUSIC SOCIETY CONCERT.
The Palmerston North branch of the British Music Society holds its first concert on Saturday evening and tho programme is worthy of the support of every music-lover. Of special interest will be a group of viola solos. The throe solos, “Aria” (Sonaglia), “Allegretto” (Schu-bcrt-Tertis) and “Serenade Espagnolo” (“Glanzcnoff-Kreislcv), by Mrs Frieda Meier, will show the instrument’s capabilities to perfection. Other items include a violin solo, “Prelude and Allegro” (PugnaniKrcislcr), by Miss Ava Symons and songs by Mr Kenneth McCawley, “Two Grenadiers” (Schumann) and “O Star of Eve” (Wagner), followed by a modern group, “There is No Death” (O’Hara) and Peel’s setting of Houeman’s “Summer Time on Brcdon.” Two trios for violin (Miss Symons), viola (Mrs Meior], and piano (Miss Ormi-Roid) complete the programme. Th o first in Eb is by Mozart: a trio in Bb by a modern composer, Alfred Wall is the second one chosen.
