(From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, April 19. The head teacher’s report presented at the annual meeting of householders at Parewanui stated,- inter alia: “The roll is at present lower .than for several years, standing at 41. The general efficiency of the school has been raised to a very high standard, while the environment speaks for itself. Such development, however, could not have been achieved without the support of tho committee in providing essential needs for tho successful carrying out of a much broader programme than in previous years of tho school’s history. Several pupils have qualified for swimming certificates ranging from 50 to 220yds. Thanks are duo to Mr J. G. Mitchell for the use of the Flock House baths. Means of transport should bo considered to enable our boys’ football team to participate in school matches. At considerable expense the committee has made numerous additions to equipment, while tho area laid down in concrete, has been further increased.’’ Air and Mrs R. Mackay spent the holidays at Wellington. Mr D. Sanson, of Ohakune, is a visitor to Bulls. Mr R. Flower, of Wellington, was home for the holidays. Mr and Mrs 11. Last-Harris, and Mr and Mrs T. Rogers, of Parewanui, are on motor tours, the former visiting Hawke’s Bay and Auckland, and the latter travelling to Taupo. Mr and Mrs L. Green and Miss J. Green, of Wellington, visited friends here during Faster. Mr W. Kearney, president of the local branch of the New Zealand Labour Party, is attending the conference in Wellington. Miss M. Kearney also went to Wellington. Mr and Mrs A. McGregor spent the holidays at Napier. Mr R. Mansell is in Auckland. Mr K. Wilson is managing the farm of Mr J. Jones while Mr and Mrs Jones are in England. Yesterday Messrs S. Rich, J. IT. Ellery and L. G'apstick left for Sydney to take part in the Anzac Day parade. This Easter was the worst on record, heavy rain marring the holidays, _ and motorists had- a miserable time. Accidents were remarkably few considering the heavy volume of traffic. On Tuesday morning several overturned cars were noticed between Turakina and Bulls, one near the Turakina cutting, and two at the Heaton Park gates, but no particulars are available as to how the occupants fared.

Rugby is now the chief topic, and although several of the best of last season’s players have left the district it is considered likely that Bulls will again field fairly strong teams.
