PALMERSTON NORTH CLUB. OPENING OF SEASON. With some 200 players, including a large number of visitors from the Manftwatu, Rangitikei and Herrington Golf Clubs, present, the opening ortho Palmerston North Golf Club's season at the Awatapu links on Saturday afternoon was an outstanding success. Pleasant weather preaviled, and tho visitors were very appreciative of the condition of the course. A mixed foursome was played, the best cards returned being : —Wimsett and Mrs Wimsett, 83 —16 —08; Simpson and Mrs Simpson, 88—18—70; E. A. Gardner and Misp Manson, 93 —23—70; C. J. AValsli and Miss Shirley, 92—22—70. MANAAVATU CLUB. PLAY AT HOKOAVHITU. Two good rounds of 72 were recorded by E. R. Chapman at the Manawatu Golf Club’s Hokowhitu links during the week-end. In the first round he just failed oil the home green to make it 71 after going out in 38. Birdies at the 10th and 16th were features of his second round. Playing right* up to his host fornL U. H. AA'ilHants went round in 70 on Saturday afternoon, while K. S- Gleittlilining showed, after a brief spell, that he will be at his best for the Easter tournament.
