(From Our Own Correspondent.) Mil-SON, March 5. The Milson Women's Institute held their annual meeting and election of officers on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs F. Murphy presided and extended a welcome to ail present. The secretary (Miss Prentice) read the report, which was adopted. The bal-ance-sheet was presented by Mrs Olds (treasurer) and showed the institute lo be in a strong financial position. An apology for absence was received from A 1 rs Clarke, and a welcome back was extended to Mrs Dvmock, who has been ill. Before (he election of officers, Airs Murphy thanked the outgoing committee and all these who had helped to make the year a success. Mrs Penkcth was nominated to the chair and the election of officers look place. Mcsdamcs Fraser and Johnston acted as scrutineers. Mrs Murphy was again unanimously elected president. The committee consists of Mcsdamcs Olds, White. Cuttcn, Johnston, McKenzie, Casey, Whittaker, Wood, Rabone, and Misses Terry and Prentice. The election of conveners of the circles was held over until the next meeting. The new committee will meet to elect their secretary and treasurer. A competition for the best dahlia was won by Mrs James, and another tearing a camel from paper, was won by Mrs Hubbard. The points prizes for the best bloom all the year was won by Mrs Graham 1 and 2 (prizes donated by Mrs Renwick and Miss Prentice), and Mrs Jenncns’s prize for the flowers was won by Mm McKenzie 1. A letter had been received from the l’lunket Society asking members for donations for their stall, which is being held this month. The hostesses for next pionth are Mcsdamcs Edwards, Ellis, Field, t Jennings, Jcnnen3, 1). Mills, McMurchic, Millard, F. O’Connor, F. Stidolph, Speight, Terry, Buhner, Barsantie, Britton and Miss Sebelin. The annual report stated: The institute has concluded another successful year, 34 new members having been enrolled. There are now 131 financial members. Twenty-nine competitions have been held, but these have not brought forth the entries the committee would have liked. The monthly reports of the circles have shown good progress. The institute entered two courts in the Women’s Institute section at the A. and P. Show and were successful in gaining first place. Mcsdamcs Murphy and Wood represented the institute at the annual council meeting, and Mrs Murphy and Miss Prentice at the half-yearly meeting. Mcsdamcs Ashworth and White have acted as group delegates. We decided to have a link institute, and Mrs Gore was appointed link correspondent, but so far we have not been successful in linking up with another institute. Donations were given to the King Georgo V Fund and the Dominion Federation towards Mrs Watt’s expenses. Gifts were also brought by members for the lepers. The institute entered the Women’s Institute section at the Fcilding Show, but were unsuccessful. We are greatly indebted to Messrs Kabone, Brill, Murphy, Thompson, Pillinger and Bcnnelto for their assistance at social evenings; also for donations from the following: Mcsdamcs Cuttcn,. Renwick, Jcnnens. Wood, Dymoclc, Martin, Campbell, Miss Terry and Mr Rowan, Mr Garner (auditor), the demonstrators, hostesses and all who have helped towards the success of the year.
