SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNIC.

AN ENJOYABLE DAY. An enjoyable day was spent at the Ashhurst Domain on Saturday when, favoured by fine weather, the annual picnic of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Sunday school was held. There was a large attendance of parents and children. The parents were entertained at afternoon tea by the teachers under Mrs M. Aitchison. The distribution of apples, ice cream, and sweets added to the enjoyment of the day. In the afternoon races were held under the control of Mr W. B. Tennent, the superintendent, and a band of helpers. Rev. J. Hubbard was present. The results of the races are as follow : —Tiny tots: Girls, Shirley Bailey 1. Daphne Webby 2; boys, Mervyn Wanden 1, Alan Roy 2. Five to six years: Girls, Lorraine Fraser 1. Ethne Wilton 2; boys, Bernard Cooper 1, Graham Tennent 2. Six to 7 years: Girls, Dorothy Lovell 1.
