“GREATLY EXAGGERATED.”
CONDITIONS AT EMPIRE VILLAGE Pcra Press Association. ASHBURTON, March 4. Interviewed regarding the statement of A. J. Sayers at Hamilton on conditions at the Empire Games village at Sydney, V. P. Boot said the position had been greatly exaggerated. He personally had no cause for complaint of want of consideration on the part of others.' In fact, he had been impressed by the interest taken by members of the various sections in the doings of those in other branches of the Games. Kindly words ol cncouiagcment given to various finalists by their team-mates played a largo part in the eventual outcome of a race. There tvas nothing in the incident in regard to which his name was mentioned. He was merely resting in anticipation of his race, and did not remember any undue noise disturbing him. At no time did he have any difficulty in getting a good night’s rest. He thought that, speaking for most of the team, he could say conditions were very satisfactory and everything possible was done for their comfort. The New Zealanders had the best quarters of any team in the Games village, and he considered any complaints savoured ot lack of gratitude for what was done for the visitors.
