GREETINGS BY CABLE.

The exchange of Christmas and New Yefir greetings by cable reached surprisingly large proportions during the recent festive season. New Zealanders were particularly enterprising in this respect compared with any previous year, for the outward greetings cables, 13,839 in number, showed an increase over the previous Christmas-New Year period of 32 per cent. The cables were used from many parts of the world to convey greetings to New Zealanders, who received 9303 messages, thus bringing the greetings traffic by cable to a total of 23,142. Between New Zealand and Australia the cabled exchange of goodwill messages was particularly brisk, with a total of 12,055, of which 7530 were sent from the Dominion.
