(From Our Own Correspondent.) RONGOTEA, March 1. The second of the season’s matches between Rongotca and Broadway was a keen struggle. The doubles matches gave Broadway a definite lend, but- in the singles the local club proved superior. Results, Rongotca players mentioned first: —Men’s singles: Scott lost to Davey, Churchill beat Norris, Eades lost to Guthrie, Gooch boat Hoarc, Amies beat Carruthcrs, Tcgg Wallace. Ladies’ singles: Miss G. Eades beat Miss O’Brien, Miss J. Eades lost to Miss G.. Bears Icy, Miss Scott lest lo Miss Nix, Mrs Davison beat Miss Thompson, Mrs Bowatcr' bent Miss McKenna, Miss Caverhill beat Miss Lett. Men’s doubles: Scott and Churchill lest lo Davey and Norris, Eades and Gooch lost to Hoarc and Carruthcrs, Amies and Tegg beat Guthrie and Wallace. Ladies’ doubles; Misses Eades lost to Misses O’Brien and Bcarsley, Miss M. Scott and Mrs Bowatcr lost. to Misses Nix and ’Thompson, Mrs Davison and Miss Caverhill boat Misses Lett and McKenna. Mixed doubles: Scott and Miss G. Fades lost to Davey and Miss O’Brien, Churchill and Miss j. Eades lost to Guthrie and Miss Bcarsley, Fades and Miss Scott lost to Norris and Miss Nix, Gooch and Mrs Davison beat Hoarc and Miss Lett, Amies and Mrs Bowatcr beat Cai’ruthers and Miss Thompson, Tegg and Muss Caverhill beat Wallace and Miss McKenna; Rongotca, 13 sets, 165 games; Broadway, 11 sots, 140 games. The bonds of religious fellowship in Rongotca have been definitely .strengthened as a result of the quarterly . combined church rallies, when congregations each take turn in providing a speaker. On Sunday evening the address was given by Mr N. F. Rowe, taking as Hie text Ist Timothy and verse 15: “The is a faithful saying.” Stating that the Bible and the Bible alone is the all-sflicient rule of faith and practice for life, Mr Rowe said the Scriptures exalt Jesus Christ, lor by Hun were all thing created that arc in heaven or earth. All things were created by Hun and for Him. This is the Gospel, God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself. There was a splendid congregation, with Mr H. Rowe in the chair. Proceedings were opened with a hearty sing led by Rev. J. W. Martin. Familiar hymns and choruses appealed to all, a lead being given by a combined choir, with Alls C. S. Hamlin at the piano. Mr. Martin led in prayer, and Rev. R. E. Fordyee read the Scripture lesson. Mr F. Frew and Air Colin I row. of Taieri, were the guests of Air and Aim AY. Gordon at the week-end. Mr and Mrs If. Aird have returned to Rongotca alter spending a holiday in Cambridge mid Auckland. Air W. Baylis, accompanied by Mr R Mudford, is touring in Ihe north.
