ACTIVE TRADING.

MID-WEEK EXCHANGE. MONEY FOR INVESTMENT. A feature of the New Zealand stock and share markets last- week was a remarkable spurt in trading on Wednesday and Thursday, mainly, in Australian metals companies’ snares and chain store issues. The turnover for the two days was heavy and equal in volume to that of the earlier part of last year. Interest in metals issues was revived by the substantial advance in, London base metals prices but a subsequent weakening in that market saw a falling-iff in share trading, aiid' an easier trend in values.
