PAHIATUA, Feb. 25. At tlie monthly sitting of the Pahintua Magistrate’s Court yesterday, Air H. P. Lowry, S.M., presiding, two men, Clarence William Dinnan and Sidney Joseph O’Donnell were charged witli being' drunk and disorderly. A further charge of resisting tlie police was preferred against O’Donnell and a charge of inciting O’Donnell to resist was preferred against Dinnan. Both pleaded guilty and expressed regret. The Magistrate took a serious view, pointing out that it was a grave offence to resist and incite resistance to arrest, in view of which both parties would be convicted and fined £2 each on the first charge and £3 on tlie second. As the result of two cars colliding on tlie coast road near Pongaroaj A. Malcolm, for not having a warrant of fitness, was fined 'los and 2os 9d costs, while Leslie Bell Anderson, of, Dannevirke, for not renewing his warrant of fitness, was fined 10s and 23s 9d costs. Inspector W. G. Milne charged J. W. Son tor, Pongaroa, with operating a vehicle without a heavy traffic license. Defendant was fined 20s and 10s costs. Teao Tataurangi, for driving a truck without a warrant of fitness, was fined 20s and 10s costs. E. F. Skilton. who parked his motor-car with the handbrake defective, was fined 15s ’and 10s costs. The death occurred last night of Mr Reginald William Aubrey, after a brief illness. Thirty years of age, the late Mr Aubrey came from Wanganui, where his father still lives. Of a bright and cheerful disposition, lie was very highly esteemed in Pahiatua. where Mrs Aubrey (formerly Aliss Dean) resided some 17 years ago with her parents, Mr and Airs R. Dean, of Wanganui. In addition to Airs Aubrey, deceased leaves a little son, aged about two years.

Air and Mrs P. J. Moran, of Wakeman Street, have left for a holiday in Auckland. Air G. E. Gleeson, who is an inmate of a private hosnital and has been on the seriously ill list, i.s now improving. Air and Airs W. H. Lawry, who have been spending a holiday in New Plymouth, where Air Lawry attended the Fire Brigade Conference, are home again. Airs R. Cooper, of Alangaroa, is visiting her mother, Mrs Mason, Pahiatua. PAHIATUA. Feb. 26. R. H. Taylor beat R. Pilkinton in a liowling match for the senior singles championship of the Pahiatua Bowling Club.

Air S. K. Siddells, deputy-Alayor, and Air L. D. Lovelock, town clerk, of Pahiatua, are attending the Municipal Association Conference at New Plymouth. The wedding was solemnised in St. Peter’s Anglican Church of Nora Ursula, second daughter iof Airs Irving a.nd the late Air C. E. Irving, of Tiraumea Road, and Reginald George, second son of Air and Airs Varcoe, of Ashburton. Rev. Herbert Wilson officiated. Atuslirooms are plentiful in the district. Yesterday St. Peter’s Church, Paliiatna, concluded its jubilee celebrations. Following Holy Communion at 8 aim. there was held a parish breakfast in the Sunday schoolroom. At 11 a.m. the Bishop of Wellington (Rt. Rev. H. S. B. Holland) preached, and he- also conducted the evening service, when -the .choir rendered special thanksgiving niusic. On Thursday night a jubilee dance was held ns part of the celebrations. Air Hall Watson was AI.G.

Air j. G. Brechin presided at a special meeting of the Alanagmutu Tennis Chib, when arrangements were made for the opening of the new courts. A discussion took place regarding an open tournament during Easter. Air O’Brien explained that it was proposed to hold both Indies’ and men’s singles and also doubles events. It was stated that the contractors had authorised play on the new, courts provided the weather was not hot .and sunnv, and in view of this several members thought that it would be inadvisable lo bold a tournament. Tt, was agreed that tlie committee. should endeavour to ascertain the views of the members on the official opening day. arid only proceed with the tournament if the majority were in favour. Mrs L. J. Hearns was given a hearty vote of thanks for making a cushion for competition in order to raise funds.
