GLEN OROUA INSTITUTE.
At the monthly meeting of the Glen Oroua Women’s Institute an apology for absence was received from Mrs Wheeler. Mr J. H. Stevens, of Palmerston North, gave a very interesting talk on national trees. The competitions were won as follow: —Best bloom, Mrs Lawlor 1, Mrs Ihlc 2, Mrs W. Boswell 3; collection of vegetables, Mrs C. Hamlin 1, Mrs W. Boswell 2. Mrs Vallender 3. ■ The hostesses put on a competition which was won by Miss Vallender. It was proposed by Mrs It. Boyce and seconded bv Miss Vallender that the institute hold a picnic on March 5 in Mr Thompson’s bush at Kopahe. Members were pleased with the results of their stall at the Feilding Show, where it gained a highly commended ticket. Mrs Thompson thanked Mr Stevens for his interesting talk. Atternoon ten was served by the hostesses, Met dames Saunders, Boswell, Parlane and Foster. The “Ode to Friendship” and the National Anthem brought a. very^pleasant afternoon to a close.
