ABORIGINE ARTIST.
BETTER THAN HIS MASTER. LONDON, Feb. 14. The story of how a full-blooded aborigine, who was employed as a guide by an English artist,* tried his own hand and soon produced water-colours which the Englishman considered were better than his own, was told by Professor J. B. Cleland, of Adelaide’, to the British Commonwealth League. He described the aborigines as probably the only pure race on the face of the earth. They might be Euio pean in origin, but, as the result of long isolation, constitution, and makeup, probably differed from all mixed races. The small remnant of pure-blooded nomads were delightful people, he said and lie hoped the mixed bloods could be gradually absorbed in the general population.
