BURMESE DEFENCES.
HEAVY EXPENDITURE. RANGOON, Feb. 24. Over £1.500,000, representing 14 per cent, of Burma’s ordinary revenue under the new Constitution, is earmarked for -defence in the 1938-9 Budget, which shows an increase of £195,000. The House of Representatives was told: “This is merely the beginning of the larger programme the country must face if it is to feel its defences are assured.”
