ENFORCEMENT TO-DAY. THE 1938 PROVISIONS. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Feb. 2S. The Board of Trade (onion) regulations, 1938, which come into force to-morrow, replace all previous regulations under the Board of Trade Act. For the purposo of the regulations New Zealand is divided into three districtsone, roughly the northern half of the North Island; two, tho other part of the North Island; three, all tho South Island. Onions for salo in New Zealand are to bo classified as graded or ungraded. The sacks containing tho lattor are to be marked with letter .“X.” District complaints comnutteos set up" by tho New Zealand Grain, Seeds, and Produce Merchants’ Federation, wilt deal with complaints regarding graded onions. ... 7 The minimum price for f.a.q. grade onions is £4 per ton, ex port or railway station, whichever is the nearest place to where thoy are grown. No minimum pneo has been fixed in respect to the sale of pickier grade onions. .■. When f.a.q. grade onions are sold by publio auction the upset price must return to tho grower £4, less the auction charges. The New Zealand Onion Marketing Advisory Committee, composed of representatives of the Government, the onion growers and tho onion wholesalers, is to advise the Minister regarding tho minimum price variations (if any), and on matters relating to production and marketing. Onion growers and wholesalers must register annually arid furnish monthly returns, except in December and January.
