FAST TORPEDO BOAT

ITALIAN PRESS ELATED. ROME, Feb. 9. The Italian press proudly announces that a motor-boat in the Italian Navy has established five speed records. Presumably it is one of the new motor-torpedo boats that are designed to torpedo battleships under the cover of smoke-screens. It is stated that the boat, which displaces 20 tons, and is fitted with Isotta Frnschini engines, covered 625 miles in the open sea without refuelling, that it cruised one mile at 48.45 knots, for one hour at 47.83 knots; for six hours at 46.46 knots, for nine hours at 45.75 knots, for 12 hours at 44.99 knots.
