(Bv Telegraph—Special to “Standard”) ' V., ROTORUA, Feb 23.
In glorious weather the Rotorua pairs tourney was • continued to-day, the Palmerston North pair, Boon and Nash, winning two of their three matTlie first, against Higginbotham, was a tight, game, the well-known Auckland skip prevailing, 20 —15. In the second match Palmerston North were always in the lead from Johnson (Ellerslie), play ending at the 20th head, with the score at 21—12. The final game of the day was against Hooper (Epsom), who also had two losses. It meant everything to either side to win, as a defeat practically assured their elimination from post-section play. The game was of a see-sawing nature, but Epsom were on top in the closing stages, leading 16— 13 at the 21st head. The Palmerston North skip saved the game with three well-drawn shots, and an extra head had to be played. The Palmerston North lead drew two nice shots, which remained undisturbed, Palmerston North winning 18—16.
