NATIONAL PARTY
PALMERSTON SEAT. SELECTION OF CANDIDATE. The three nominees for the position of National Party candidate for the Palmerston seat Messrs A. E. ManSford, J. A. Nash and M. H. Oram, last evening, addressed a ‘ capacity audience of National Party members in the Empire Hall. . Each reviewed his career of public service and was accorded an attentive hearing. An announcement was made that ballot jiapers were being posted to all members , of. the party in Palmerston North and that the count would be takeu-on March 5; also that if a second ballot should be necessary it would be taken immediately after the -first count had been made. The chairman was Mr H. G. Mills, chairman of the Palmerston North branch of the National Party. MEETING AT OPOTIKI. Per Press Association. OPOTIKI, Feb. 23. Mr J. Hiargest, M.P., addressed a very large gathering, including a number of farmers, at Opotiki last night. Mr Sullivan, National Party candidate for the Bay of Plenty seat, was introduced and briefly addressed the meeting. Both speakers were accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
