QUIET MARKETS.

WELLINGTON STUCK EXCHANGE. Little change was scon yesterday in the Wellington stock and share markets, which were generally dull and easy in tone. The exception was the- Woolworths issues, which continued to firm. The New Zealand shares sold to 20s 9d and Woolworths (Sydney) moved up to business at 26s 9d, the second preference going at 28s 6d. Woolworths Holdings sold at 15s as against 14s 6d to 14s 9d last week. G. J. Coles maintained their recent improvement, business being done at 79s 9d, and buyers staying in at that price. Government loans were firm and unchanged. Bank shares remained quiet, Australasias selling at £lO 5s and New Zealands at 435. Financial, insurance and most industrial and trading shares were dull, with littlo or no change in quotations. Wellington Gas wero a shade firmer at 36s 9d, but sellers wero not showing.
