SWIMMING SPORTS. CHAMPIONSHIPS" DECIDED. Favoured by • excellent weather, the annual swimming sports of the Palmerston North Technical School were held at the Municipal Baths yesterday afternoon. Efficiently controlled, the events were decided with commendable expedition. The director Mr H. M. Scott was in charge, with the following assistants: Organiser, Mr J. Walker; referees, Meesrss D. MacLeod and Weston J. Smith ; judges of swimming events, Messrs D. E. Dredge, S. J. Bennett !\»id N. A. Frye; call-stewards, Misses Cooper, Mardon, Vautier and Mr O. S. Steverson ; judges of diving events, Messrs D. MacLeod, and Weston J. Smith and Miss Galvin; starter, Mr A. J. Newman; result steward, Mr A. G. Richards; result compilers, Mr W. F. Goddard and Miss Wood; blackboard steward, Miss Smyth; timekeeper, Mr Weston J. Smith; announcer, Mr B. Potter; handicapper, Mr C. Dredge. The boys' senior championship (Colin Telford Memorial Cup) was won by Leighton Candy, while the girls' senior championship (Essex Cup) went to Jeanette Scott. The Bert Hands Cups (boys' and girls' 220 yards) were won by Leighton Candy and Joan Duckworth, respectively. The inter-house championship was won by Tainui. with Arawa second and Rangitane third.
