WHIRLWIND IN WHANGAREI.
SHEETS OF IRON LIFTED. Per Press Association. WHANGAREI. Feb. 5. A whirlwind caused damage in the' market garden of Mr John Wordsworth, Upper Mill Road, yesterday. Heavy sheets of iron, nailed down in timber frames to protect the young plants, were wrenched off and sent hurtling through the air. The flying debris wrecked a radio mast in ' a neighbouring property. Other sheets of iron crashed against a house further down the street smashing two windows , even the frames of which were shattered. Telegraph wires were also damaged. The longest flights ranged to 150 ft. Considerable wreckage was. caused to greenhouses on Mr Wordwortli’s property. r
