CAPITAL CHARGE
HEARING CONCLUDES. Per Press Association. TIMARU, Feb. 4. The trial of Randall Reginald David Smith on the charge of murdering William Gaby at Arundel on September 10 reached the final stages today, when formal evidence was heard. Counsel addressed the jury; His Honour will sum tip this afternoon. The defence submitted that accused struck deceased, but without any intention to kill, and urged that a verdict of manslaughter should be returned.
