TENNIS TEST.
AUSTRALIANS LEAD. Received February 5, 8.5 a.m. PERTH, Feb. 4. The weather was ideal for the opening of the third tennis test, Australia versus Germany, to-day. Singles.—Quist heat Henkel, 6—2, 3—6, G—3; McGrath beat Cramm, 4 6, 6—4. 6—3. Doubles.—Henkel and Cramm beat Quist and McGrath. 6—4, 6—2. The match between Quist and Henkel was featureless and uninspiring. McGrath and Cramm provided a keen contest. It was a fipe exhibition of all-court tennis. A feature was McGrath’s brilliant two-handed back service. It functioned admirably. Both players went for their shots from the outset and were always on the attack. The doubles were disappointing, including countless errors. The Australians failed to team well and faded out. Henkel made the best showing, liis service being brilliant. The test will be continued to-morrow when McGrath will meet Cramm for
the first time in Australia.
