PAHIATUA, Dec. 21. Mr and Mrs G. L. Stafford, of Huntly, are visiting Pahiatua. Mr and Mrs A. Tait, or Ballance, have as tlieir guests Messrs F. 13. Tait, J. Warren, and J. Harrison, of Wellington. At Wellington Miss M. Brittain, a pupil of Miss B. D. Lucas, L.L.C.M., L. was successful in gaining the associate diploma of the London College of Music.' Mrs G..H. Hodd is visiting Napier. Johnstone, a Makuri carrier, while proceeding along the Pongaroa main highway yesterday about ten miles from Pahiatua, noticed the top of a tractor down a bank at the side of the road. On making an investigation he found Mr L. R. Tufrey, a farm-cultivating contractor, fatally injured. It appears that Air Tufrey was shifting, by means of his tractor, a set of discs and harrows from the farm of Mr 0. Hansen to that of Mr M. Priest, at Ngaturi. He was last seen alive ’on Alonday evening at 6 o’clock. Air Tufrey was about 38 years of age and was well-known in the Pahiatua district.
A well-known and highly respected resident of the Eketahuna district in the person of Air James AlcAnulty, of Kaiparoro, has passed away at the age of 59 years. Trie late Air AlcAn-
ulty was born at Bulls, and went to, Eketahuna when he was eight years of age. For the past 38 years lie had been farming at Kaiparoro. Until comparatively recently lie was chairman of the Kaiparoro Dairy Company.' He is survived by a widow, one soil, James, and two daughters, Airs H. Percy (Alfredton) and Aliss Alargaret AlcAnulty (Kaiparoro).
