WEDDING
GRAYSON—SMITH
A pretty wedxling was solemnised on Wednesday, December 8, at Cuba Street Methodist Church, Palmerston North, when Eileen Elizabeth, second daughter of Mrs and the late Mr W. H. Smith, of “Wenslee,” Taikorea, was married to Thomas Wilfred, third son of the late Mrs Grayson, of PaJmevfctori North. The ceremony was performed by Rev.R. E. Fordyce, and Mr Drake presided at the organ.. The>phurch was prettily decorated with Christmas lilies and roses by friends of the bride.Escorted by her uncle, Mr E.- C. print, of Taikorea, the bride made a charming picture in her model frock of silver white satin,, with attractively draped bodice, which was finished at the back with a row of tiny buttons to the waistline. The skirt was slimfitting and formed a long train. Tier lovely veil of einln’oidered tube, winch formed • a second train, was held in place by a circlet of orange blossom, while a spray of real orange blossom ornamented her neckline. Die carried a beautiful bouquet of Christmas lilies, roses, and maiden-hair fernAttending the bride were her two sisters, Miss Elsie Smith (chief) and Miss Joyce Smith, who were similarly attired in picture frocks of white floral silk with blue crinoline hats and shoes to tone- Both carried bouquets of sweet peas, roses, and maidenhair fern. Mr A. Grayson, of Dannevirke, brother of the bridegroom, carried out the v duties of best man, and Mr George Blenkiron, of Aokautere,. was groomsman.
As the bride left the church she was presented with a silver horseshoe by little June Teague.
Following the ceremony, over one hundred guests were recevied by Mrs Smith at Messrs Collinson and Cunninghame’s tearooms. She was assisted by Mrs Hastier, sister of the bridegroom. Mrs Smith chose a navy cloqne dress, with a spray of pink roses and hat to match, and carried a posy pi roses and carnations ; Mrs Hastier wet 3 blue silk with white trimmings. A beautiful three-tiered cake held pride of place on the wedding table. The usual toasts wore honoured and congratulatory telegrams were read. Later the happy couple left by train for the north, the bride travelling in a smart blue ensemble with accessories to match. - Prior to her marriage the bride was entertained at a oantrv afternoon oy the Rongotea Ladies’ Guild. The Taikorea Women’s Institute presented her with a handsome hearth rug and the Taikorea Bible class, of which both were members, with a clock. Mr and Mrs Grayson’s future home will be at Taikorea.
