STUDIO PARTY.

The junior pupils of Miss Irene . Oliver gathered at the studio on Saturday afternoon for their annual Christmas break-up party. The majority of them wore fancy costumes and the bright and colourful dresses mingled with the studio decorations of red and green, and with the laughter and chatter going on made the scene a gay and lively one. Games and competitions comprised the afternoon’s entertainment, not to forget the afternoon tea enjoyed by all. Before each one left for home they were handed a bag of sweets and a small parcel by Miss Oliver and Miss E. Street. In the evening the pupils returned, bringing their parents for a parents’ evening. This was spent in games and pompetitions in which the parents had' to partake, interspersed with items from the children. After ■supper had been handed around Mrs Blackwell, on behalf of the mothers, wished Miss Oliver seasonal greetings and presented her with a lovely crystal vase for which Miss Oliver suitably responded. Competition winners were: “Tearing the Big,” Mrs Broughton; “Musical Arms,” Mrs Newson; “Shops,” Mrs Wilson; “Musical

Flops,” Joy Newison and Evelyn Lewis. The evening was brought to a close by all singing “Auld Lang Syne.” TOKOMARU PARENTS’ AFTERNOON. Another enjoyable afternoon was •spent in the Tokomaru Hall when Miss Oliver’s weekly dancing class held their break-up party. The pupils entertained their parents with items, afternoon tea being handed round at a suitable interval. During the last item Miss Oliver was called upon to . accept Christmas wishes and a frag- ’ rant bouquet.
