DISASTROUS FIRE

SEVENTY-EIGHT LIVES LOST. MANY OTHERS MISSING. TRAGEDY IN JAPAN. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received December 22, 8.5 a.m. TOKIO, Dec. 21. Five hundred people stampeded when a fire broke out in a primary school during the showing of a news reel. So far 78 bodies, of which 2" are those of children, have been recovered from the ruins. It is feared that many more are dead. A later message says the fire occurred at the village of Minanitomita. Over 300 schoolchildren and 150 parents and relatives were watching « news film of the Sino-Japanese war. The dead include 34 women and 14 girls.
