(From Our Own Correspondent.) BUNNYTIIORPJi, Doe. 16. On Wednesday, a quiet but pretty wedding took place in the Presbyterian Church, Palmerston North, who Kov. J. Hubbard joined in matrimony Jean Irene Fraser, niece of Mr and Mrs J. .Boig, of Palmerston North, to It ay m oil d Pickett, of liunnythorpc. The bride was attended by Miss M. Bradley, as bridesmaid, and Mr Williams acted as best man. After the ceremony tho guests were entertained at the wedding breakfast, where the usual toasts were honoured, after which the happy couple left on their honeymoon. Their future homo will bo at Bunnythorpe. On Tuesday afternoon a pleasing function took place at the factory when the staff gathered to bid farewell to Miss G. Mitclioll, who is severing her connection and is to be married at an early date. Mr A. 11. Faulkner, manager, in expressing the firm’s regret at the loss of Miss Mitchell, conveyed best wishes. She had shown that she was worthy of the esteem of her fellow employees, and on their behalf he asked Miss Mitchell to accept a handsomo clock as a token of goodwill. Mr A. T. Mitchell responded on behalf of his daughter. . „ , At a meeting of the Methodist Church Jubilee Committee Ibov. C. A. Foston presided. Ho referred to the success of the Jubilee and expressed thanks to all who had given assistance, specially referring to the work done by the Ladies Guild. Mr J. H. Fowler, ill giving a statement of the finances, referred to tho work of painting and repairing tho church and Sunday school, and tho-obtaining of new books, which had been paid for out of the receipts of tho Jubilee. .There was a credit of £27 6s. It was decided to donate £lO toward the trust fund. Mr J. W., Clevcly referred to the work done by Mr Foston, who was untiring in his efforts to make tho Jubileo a success, also the Ladies’ Guild; thanks were due also to Mr Fowler (secretary), who had the burden of many duties to attend to, which he had faithfully carried out. Thanks were accorded to all who had responded with donations. Tho following wero elected society stewards: Messrs J. W. Glcvely, H. Dittmer, J. W. Wood, A. Stewart, and H. llennessy. ■ - Mr A. 11. Faulkner, manager, on behalf of his fellow employees, presented to Mr It. Pickett; on the occasion of his marriage, an eiderdown quilt as an expression of good wishes. He also handed to Miss Mitchell a set of carvers and knives. On Wednesday evening the Tennis Club held a social and dance in honour of the approaching wedding of Miss G. Mitchell and Mr L. Duthie, both members of the club, there being a large atendance. Dancing, cards, and musical items made an enjoyable evening. Mr O. Jackson (president) referred to the guests of the evening, who for many years had taken a keen interest in tennis, and voiced the members’ best wishes in their coming married life. He presented them with a handsome travelling rug and portmanteau, hoping t.heso would remind them of the Tennis Club. Mr Duthie responded.
