BEACH LEASES.

IMPROVEMENT SOUGHT. (From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Dee. 15. Speaking as a member of a deputation which waited on the Foxton Harbour Board at its monthly meeting, Mr G. Watchorn (Palmerston North) asked if the board would investigate the possibilities of altering the beach leases to make them more satisfactory to lessees. At present there was no compensation clause and no right of renewal, and people were going to other beaches in preference to Foxton when it was a matter of building, as they could obtain more satisfactory leases. He knew of a case where a. person had been interested in building an accommodation house at Foxton Beach, but ho had turned the proposition down whon ho had learned of the lease, Members agreed that the matter was one which required revision, and it was decided to place it on the agenda paper for deliberation at the next meeting.
