WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE.

YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES.

General dullness pervaded the markets on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday, and trading was restricted to a small turnover. Prices were mostly easy. Government loans were quiet and barely steady. The 4 per cent, stock. 1946-49, sold 2s Cd down at £lO2 7s 6d. Others were unchanged. Bank shares were quiet and with an easy tendency. New Zealand cold at 43s Bd, and more were wanted at twopence lower. National of New Zealand weakened to 535, sellers holding for 55s 6d. Little interest was shown in other sections of the market, there being a complete alienee of buyers in several cases. New Zealand Breweries were marked down to 44s 9d, sellers 45s 9d. Tooths were wanted at 52s 3d. Australian industrial issues showed little or no change on Late rates except metal issues, which fell away in sympathy with the London market. Mount Lyell were marked down to 31s 9d. Woolworths, Ltd., eased to 25s 4d, sellers asking 26s 3d. Woolworths (N Z.) were quoted, ex dividend, at 20s 6d. sellers 21h 6d. G. J. Coles sold at 84s 4d.
