PRESENTATION.
At the meeting of the Kiwitea County Council yesterday a presentation to Miss M. S. Calder was made by councillors. Miss Caldey has been on ythe council’s office staff for ten years and has resigned to take up another poaiThe chairman, Cr. L. T. McLean, expressed regret that Miss Calder was leaving. She had been a faithful servant and had carried out her duties in an able manner. It gave the speaker great pleasure to make a presentation and to advise Miss Calder that she had been granted a month s leave of absence on full pay. . Cr W. P. Shaw wished Miss Calder the compliments of the season and said that she had carried out her work m an efficient manner, and her departure would be a loss to the council. Mr W. L. Hesseltine (county clerk) also supported the previous speakers remarks and said his assistant, was a pjainstalcing, courteous, ana loyal officer, and he sincerely regretted the step she was taking in severing her connection with the council alter over 10 years’ service. However, no joined in wishing Miss Calder e\ery success and the season s greetings. Miss Calder suitably replied stating that her employment had been a happy one. She then expressed her thanks to the councillors and Mr' Hesseltino for their gift. • The Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Coy. advise ' having received the following advice from London: —“Lamb market: Demand steady; values firm. Average Smithfield prices: Down, twos, Bid; eights, 8f d to B|d : fours, not quoted. Prime: Twos, B}d to B|d; eights, BJd to Bfd; fours, 7Jd. Seconds: 73d to 7|d.”
