(From Our Own Correspondent.) KOPANE. Dec. 14. Saturday saw the commencement of the To Kawau Tennis Association’s competitions. In the A grade Kopano was at home to the Glen Oroya team. The homo team was successful by a good margin. In the B grade Kopano travelled to Glen Oroua, where they wore successful by the narrow margin of 8 sots each and 68 games to 66. Results, Glen Oroua players mentioned first:—Women’s singles, Mrs Milne lost to Miss B. Jones 3—6, Miss I. Parlane lost to Miss P. Jones 2—6, Miss D. Carter lost to Miss J. Glasgow o—6,0 —6, Mrs Locke lost to Miss N. Beattie 2 —6; men’s singles, R. Algar «lost to J. Thomson 3—6, N. Ihle beat A. Witton 6—3, I. Pat-lane beat A. Hill 6 —5, I. Parlane beat R. Winters 6—l; women’s doubles, Mrs Milne and Miss I. Parlane beat Misses B. and P. Jones 6—3, Mrs Locke and Miss D. Carter lost to Misses J. Glasgow and N. Beattie 7 —6; men’s doubles, Algar and Ihle boat Thomson and Witton 6—4, Parlane and Ihle beat Hill and Winters 6 —2; mixed doubles, Mrs Milne-and Algar beat Miss B. Jones and Thomson 6—l, Miss Parlane and Ihle lost to Miss P. Jones and Witton, 5 —6, Miss Carter and Ihle lost to Miss Glasgow and Hill, 3—6, Mrs Locke and Parlane beat Miss Beattie and Winters 6—l. Next Saturday the Kopane A team will meet Rongotea at Rongotea and the B team will meet Rongotea B at Kopane. The club singles championships and the handicap singles are in progress. Tho friends of Miss Yvonne Youngscn will regret to learn that she has had to enter hospital.
