FOURTH FATALITY.
WAIROA DROWNING
MAORI BOYS FATE,

A drowning fatality—the fourth in the Wairoa district this summer —occurred at Nuhaka late on Monday afternoon, the victim being an 11-vear-old Maori boy, Thomas Apirana Morgan, whose parents reside in Muriwai, near Gisborne, and who, for some months, has been staying with a relative, Mrs Puti Nepia, at Nuhaka. The boy was swimming in the Nuhaka River. He climbed on to a bridge to dive and slipped and fell into the water. At the inquest a finding that death was clue to accidental drowning was returned.- The Coroner paid a tribute to a Maori, Epanaia Christy, aged 16. who dived in, fully clothed, in an attempt to rescue the boy.
