Received December 14. 12.50 p.m. LONDON. Dec. 13. Miss Jean Batten denies the report that she is planning a record solo flight from England to Melbourne. She says-she has no flight in contemplation. A series of laboratory tests is being carried out by the Forest Products Research Board on behalf of the New Zealand Government on boxes for the export of butter in 501 b blocks as part of an investigation by the New Zealand Department of Agriculture to provide a substitute for white pine. Mr J. E. Lovelock has gained the degree of Bachelor of Medicine at Oxford University. Unanimous opposition to any cession of British mandated territories to Germany was expressed at a private meeting of over seventy members of the House of Commons constituting the Parliamentary Empire Industries Association. The Paris correspondent of the Daily Telegraph states that Jean Morel, a druggist and a former member of the Croix de Feu, was arrested. at Lyons in connection with the arms conspiracy after a search of premises which revealed machine-guns, rifles, and other weapons, and ammunition. BERLIN, Dec. 13. The Supreme Court has ruled it is the duty of every business man to read a newspaper regularly. A business manager charged by a firm for using its money to pay his newspaper subscription was acquitted, the Court declaring it was in the firm’s interest that the manager should subscribe to newspapers. , PARIS, Dec. 13. Eugene Weidmann has confessed to the murder of Madame Jeanne Keller, formerly Berst, daughter of a rich farmer at Mundelshien, near Strasbourg, whose photograph was found in Weidmann’s villa at St. Cloud. A. chauffeur,-named Markoff, is also missing, in connection with which fact, suspicion attaches to Weidmann. JERUSALEM, Doc. 13. Twelve Jewish passengers were \v;ounded by a bomb. and.-volley' shots from an ambush while travelling tp Nazareth in a. bus, The police trailed the attackers, with whom a fight is believed to he in progress.
