GIRLS’ MUSIC CLUB.
END-OF-YEAR MUSIC ALE. St. Andrew’s schoolroom wa.s attractively decorated, last evening, when the ijirls’ Music Club held their final musicale of the year.. Bowls of sweet peas and candytuft and baskets of Sweet William had been tastefully arranged by Miss L. McDonald. Mrs R. S. Law, who presided, was presented with a beautiful sheaf of flowers as a token of gratitude, for her work in connection with the club, Mrs F. Collier (vice-president) making the presentation, with Christmas greetings. The programme, which was of the usual high standard, was as follows: Piano solo, “Rhapsodie,” Mrs A. C. Pitt (Norsewood); vocal solo, “Dawn, Gentle Flower.” Miss V. Corke; “Sonata” for ’cello and piano, Miss 3. Paton and Mrs I. Rickard; violin and piano, “Andante from Concerto,” Misses B. Bartlett and E. Eyre; -vocal solo. “When Children Play,” Miss D. Junker (Pahiatua) ; piano solo, “Andante and Rondo Capriccioso.” Miss Helen Muir; vocal duet, “Sleep. Holy Babe,” Misses G. Lanrenson and 1Clark; violin solos. “Traumerei” and “Giga,” Mrs R. S. Law; vocal solo, “Virgin’s Cradle Hymn,” Miss M. Feist; ’cello solos, “Songs My Mother Taught Me” and “Air,” Miss Gwen McKenzie; piano solos, “Refrain de Berceuse” and “En Route,” Miss F. Anderson; vocal solo, “The Legend, Miss L. McDonald. Members of the glee circle, led by Miss Feist, rendered the final item appropriate to the season. Entering the darkened room with lighted candles, they sang “O, Come, AH Ye Faithful.” followed by ‘Silent Night. The accompanistes were Mesdames HC Morgan, I. Rickard, Misses E. Eyre, H. Muir and N. Tregurtlia. Reference was made by Mrs Law to the approaching marriage of Miss Gwen McKenzie, and 1 egret was ex " pressed at the loss the club would sustain through her departure. Mrs Law asked Miss McKenzie to accept a crystal salad bowl and servers accompanied bv the good wishes of the club. Miss McKenzie returned thanks. A presentation was made to the club secretary (Miss I. Clark) in appreciation of her work. Miss Clark briefly replied, and musical honours were accorded Misses McKenzie and Claik.
