ASHHURST.

' (From ’Our Own Correspondent.) ASHHURST, Dec. 13. A well attended meeting of the Ashhurst Flower Show and Gala Committee was held in the hall. Mr W. N. Brewer, who was in the chair, announced that he would be absent on an extended holiday during January and February, and suggested that it would be advisable to elect a chairman to carry on during the gala in February. Upon nominations being called for. Till* H. J. Woodroofc was unanimously elected to the position of chairman. "An announcement , that Mr J. Flowers, Ashhurst, wished to donate an olcctro-platcd tea service valued at £5 to be disposed of as the committee thought best, was greeted with applause. Mr W. N. Brewer’s offer to provido a ham for disposal on account of hall funds was also well received. The schedule prepared by the ladies’ committee in charge of the show was reported on by Mesdames V. Muldrock and A. Currie. Mrs Muldrock announced that upwards of twenty trophies and points prizes had already been premised for the flower section. In moving that the schedules be passed as submitted, the chairman asked that a vote of thanks be extended to the ladies for their assistance and the excellent manner in which they bad carried out their task. It was decided that the gala should be opened by a grand parade to be led by members of the Basketball Club. Prizes would be donated for best decorated bicycle (boys) and best decorated perambulator (girls), best groomed pony and also for best decorated bicycle (adults) and best decorated motor vehicle, all competitors to take part, in parade. Mr A. H. Cheshire was appointed to take charge of ail side shows on gala dav. The trophy presented by Mr G. J. Bleakley for the member selling the most tickets was handed by the donor to Mr Russell Potts, the declared winner.
