PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. (From Our Own Correspondent.) APITI, Dec. 15. The annual prize giving of the Presbyterian Church Sunday School was held on Sunday afternoon. Every child who had attended the classes throughout the year was given a book prize. Mrs Benseman presented the prizes,, in the absence of Rev. J. Ilodson. WOMEN’S DIVISION. There was a fair attendance at the monthly meeting of the W.D.F.U. field yesterday afternoon. Mrs A. Viles presided and apologies ofr absence were received from Mesdames Wildbore, C. Stanley, N. J. Vilos, J. R. Osborne and T. Osborne. Votes of sympathy were passed with Mi's Viles, senr., and Mrs T. Osborne in their recent bereavements. The illness of Mrs A. McMurtrio, who is in Auckland, .was sympathetically referred to, also sympathy was expressed with another member, Mrs Nix, who is in hospital. At the next meeting the competition will be: Best pioneer story, and a bouquet. The dressmaking box was opened, and members took patterns and discussed the papers dealing - with the work. In the points competition, a Christmas novelty, Miss Kearney was the winner. It will be decided at the next meeting whether a further box is to be obtained. The president concluded the meeting with Christmas gretings to all members. Hostesses were Mesdames L. Gould, N. K. Gould, and B. Guy. END-OF-TERM PARTY.

Mrs J. R. Osborne was hostess - at a happy little party for her five girl pupils at her home on Monday afternoon. Ngaire Hogan, Mary Mclntyre and. Christine Stanley each gave pianoforte items, while Jacqueline Cowan and Ruth Nix each recited. A treasure hunt was won by Mary Mclntyre, and Jacqueline Cowan won another competition. A party tea was served by Mrs Osborne and at the conclusion each little girl gave her hostess a small Christmas gift. Ruth Nix thanked Mrs Osborne for the party and wished her a Happy Christmas. GENERAL. Apiti School children tutored by their teachers have been carrying out the “leam-to-swim” slogan, during the past week. Quite a number of children can now swim. The school house and sclioo buildings are being painted. The school magazine, the “Apitinian,” is now to hand, and has many seasonable poems and items which, are a credit to the children.
